This lecture will present a generic model for digital workflows in data archiving. The model is comprised of four phases which allow data of varying sizes and formats to be administered in one archival system. A model for data qualification will also be presented, as well as relevant roles and responsibilities. The management of heterogeneous data is a complex task, and no single solution can apply to all data. The lecturers will explain how data can be qualified and how archive systems for data management can be selected. Practical examples will offer insights regarding troubleshooting and demonstrate pragmatic uses of data archiving. Central to all examples is the subsequent use of data.
