Wolfgang Kraus

is a professor at the Institute for Cultural and Social Anthropology (IKSA), and served as either program leader or vice program leader from 2004–08 and on the board of the Institute from 2012–14. Since 1983, he has researched the ethnography of Moroccan Berbers and works extensively with audio-visual media. Out of this work he developed an interest in the organisation, digitalisation and archivation of research field data, and he currently plans to act as the coordinator of an IKSA project on the topic of ethnographic data. This project, whose funding is currently in negotiation, would be a pilot project in the area of data archivation in the social sciences.
