Ludwig Maximilian Breuer

was born in Munich in 1985 and in 2006, moved to Vienna to pursue a degree in German philology. Since 2011, he has taught German language sciences at the Institute for German Philology at the Vienna University. From 2011–15, he worked on the project Syntax of Hessian Dialects (SyHD) (www.syhd.info) with the task of developing a databank for collected dialect syntax data and creating an online expert system for accessing that databank, a project which will end this June 2016. Since 2015, he has worked as a university assistant on the topic of language history and varietal linguistics and since 2016, as a co-opted member of the special research program German in Austria (DiÖ) (www.dioe.at), which helps bridge the gap between linguistics and the digital humanities. His focus included variation, socio and computer linguistics, as well as Viennese syntax.
